About us

Two girl dads. Zero hair experience. At first.

We're Jeggan and Ruki, two stay-at-home dads who learned to do our daughters' hair, and decided other dads should get to feel that pride too. Dads & Braids is a small, friendly workshop where fathers learn the basics (and the not-so-basics) in a no-judgement room full of other dads who are also holding a comb for the first time.

Jeggan

Jeggan

I took a year off work to spend more time with my daughters. Then, at the start of 2026, I spent a month travelling around Sri Lanka, just me and my 4-year-old. Solo parenting on the road meant one thing: learn to do her hair, fast.

Ruki

Ruki

I stepped away from work to be more present for my daughter, and got put in charge of school-morning hair. Then I noticed her teacher kept quietly "fixing" it. So I did what any proud dad would do: got so good that the teacher can now retire her comb.

We've since been featured by CNA Lifestyle, which still feels surreal for two guys who once thought a "French braid" was a type of bread.

Questions

Do I need any experience?

None at all. Most dads who come have never braided anything. If you can hold a comb, you're ready.

What do I need to bring?

Just yourself. We provide the mannequin heads, combs, brushes, hair ties, food and drinks, and a goody bag to take home.

Does my daughter need to come?

No. You'll practise on mannequin heads, then take your new skills home to her.

How does booking and payment work?

Book your spot online and we hold it for 48 hours. Pay the workshop fee by PayNow, send us a screenshot of the payment, and we'll email you a confirmation with the time and exact address once we've received it.

Can I get a refund?

Spots are limited, so we don't usually offer refunds. But if you can't make it, we're happy to move you to another date.

Will there be food and drinks?

Yes! We serve food and drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, so there's something for everyone.
